Paying for Healthcare with Coupe

Imagine that you’re in the market for a new TV. You look up different TV prices from different stores and land on one that has good reviews and is right in your price range at $300. You head over to the store, grab the TV, and swipe your credit card for $300. The store is paid in full, you own a new TV, and by the end of the month when you receive your credit card statement, you’ll pay off the TV (either in full or over time). It’s simple, it’s intuitive, and it’s how most people shop today. It’s also how the Coupe payment model is designed.

Here’s how Coupe works:

Step 1: Find a provider

In your member portal you can search for a provider based on your location and how far you’re willing to travel. Providers are organized into either tier 1 (green), tier 2 (yellow), or tier 3 (red). Each tier has a predetermined cost for all services which is designated based on the quality ranking of providers within the network. Tier 1 providers have the highest quality ranking and the lowest cost.

Step 2: Pay nothing at your appointment

When you go in for your appointment or visit your pharmacy you will present your Coupe ID card and pay nothing at that time. This is because Coupe has already paid your provider in full, leaving you and your doctor or pharmacist to focus on your health rather than the billing process.

Step 3: Receive one monthly statement

Each month Coupe will send you a statement that details the amount you owe based on services you received the previous month. One bill for all your medical expenses means no more spreading EOBs (Explanation of Benefits) across your kitchen table, trying to figure out how much you owe and to whom. And, with Coupe’s door-to-door service policy, even if you end up getting additional services during an appointment (like lab work), Coupe will still only bill you for the amount you saw in your provider search tool – no add-ons or surprises.

To ease the stress of paying for healthcare, when you receive your statement, you have the option to just pay your monthly minimum amount and finance the rest with no credit check or change to your credit score. But if you choose to pay your statement in full by the due date you will receive 1.5% credit on your next statement. Pay your statement by credit card, bank account, FSA, or HSA – the choice is yours.
